  I have been going to Mama's Cafe for many years. For many years the food was outstanding. They had a chicken fried steak second to none. Come to find out Mama's was recently purchased by another entity. I ordered the chicken fried steak on my recent visit. I ordered it with two sides, oven baked apples and mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was horrible, obviously it was not the same recipe as the previous owners, it tasted processed and freezer burned. To begin with I only ordered the half order of chicken fried steak of which I left roughly two thirds. The mashed potatoes were equally as bad. The only thing palatable were the apples. I complained to our waitress who actually provided great service and she returned to our table later informing me that the kitchen staff knew that the chicken fried steak was a poor choice and that they knew that this entree was probably one of the worst on the menu. I was not offered any kind of discount or asked if I would like something else and when the explanation was presented the hostess/door person overheard the conversation and looked right at me and said nothing. I will never go back to this restaurant and if the new ownership is hell bent on destroying the once great reputation of a once great restaurant then they are definitely doing a great job!

  I came here to pick up a to-go order for my girlfriend and I. Got the fried pickles and fried mushrooms. They were both great choices, no t soggy at all, and delicious! The people there were really nice and gave us more gravy and ranch than we knew what to do with. We'll definitely go back, for take-out or dine-in.
