  The recommendation we got to come here said "This is better than my moms cooking" so we had to try it.
  
  Our first visit we let our waiter know and he informed the manager. The gesture he gave by bringing out bowls of tortilla soup would have been a nice welcome if the soup wasn't cold, not even warm, COLD. Even though it was cold it still had amazing flavor. Grateful for the kindness shown on our first visit we also asked about drinks and on the managers recommendation my wife got a "Mexican Pain Killer" which he made himself. That drink alone was so good it made up for the cold soup.
  Good sized portions of food and the sauce used on the enchiladas has been my favorite so far in all of San Antonio. The staff are super friendly and eager to please.
  If the welcome we got on our first visit is a sign of how this place treats everyone every visit then we will most definitely be back, maybe sooner than later.

  The food at Nicha's is so good. The food is always top notch. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the atmosphere is lively. The staff is friendly.
  
  However, Nicha's at 3119 Roosevelt seems to have been plagued with tiny little problems here and there. My last several visits have fared less than satisfactory. On a recent visit the air conditioner was out. This visit was further faulted by slow service. The server forgot our drinks, silverware, took forever to bring out our food, and when the food finally did come, he had forgotten our appetizer which we had to wait to be served alongside our entrees. On my most recent visit, the credit card machine was down. After finishing our meal, we asked for the check. We waited for about ten minutes and I asked the server again for our check. He had been stalling, telling us the credit card terminal was down. He took my card to the cashier and we waited an additional ten to fifteen minutes. By this time, I was pretty fed up and decided to retrieve my card from the cashier, at which time they went ahead and manually charged me.
  
  An avalanche of small problems has turned into a mountain of headaches to the point where I refuse to visit this location, which is about five minutes from home. Luckily, there are two other Nicha's locations I can visit, and I will because the food is just that good.
