  After a few years following a disappointment at the Palm I had another chance , invited by out of town guests. Shockingly the Palm got worse. My Caesar salad was inferior to the one at HEB which is actually very good. My expansive veal marcela was as hard as a rock and was served cold. I actually felt embarrassed toward my hosts who did not complain but had nothing good to say about the place. Service was fair. Overpriced and way OVERRATED.

  The Palm is good. The downtown central location adds to the appeal, particularly if you happen to be planning to attend a performance at The Majestic Theater later in the evening. The service and atmosphere is what ultimately left the most lasting impression on me. That's not to say that the food wasn't good, the steak I ordered came out just as requested and was quite good, but the attentive and friendly staff paired with the cozy environment made the evening downtown memorable.
