  Went in on a Monday afternoon and was served rather quickly and happily. The cashier was not negative in any way with me and answered my questions no matter how awkward I was with them. Food was exemplary and definitely worth the price I payed however it couldn't hurt to make the steak burgers just a tiny bit bigger. Just my opinion however. Very good and will recommend to others.

  This review is for the newly opened location on the campus of the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) in the John Peace Library building. This is not the reason for 2 stars but the wait time from ordering to getting food was 13 minutes. Students have to stand there waiting for their orders and it creates a traffic jam of people. I understand you are still trying to get the workflow going. I ordered the breakfast meal. The egg was comparable to McDonalds. The taste improved with a little salt and hot sauce. The sausage patty was flavorful. The hash browns were disgusting at best with a horrible oil taste to them. I only ate half of one. The toast was decent but without the offering of butter or jelly that defeats the purpose of toast. The price was fair for the amount of food received in the breakfast meal but the nasty hash browns ruined the experience. Willing to give the pancakes a try next time and then the burgers and shakes. Let's see if those are better.

  Normally love Steak n Shake, but this location was terrible!! Very slow service, with poor mannered staff (tried to ask question about flour on the fries because our son has celiac disease, cashier said she didn't know, so I asked if she could go check the box and she said "no it wouldn't tell her anything"... Which I know is false, I've worked in plenty of restaurants and the food boxes have to have the ingredients on them), dirty & sticky tables (if you go here expect to wipe your own tables), burgers are OK (greaser than normal), fries were the best part of the meal, shakes were watery and tasted of old milk, the cherry Dr pepper tasted like cleaners. We are putting this location on our "don't eat at list".
