  This is what you expect from a backwoods grill in the outskirts of San Antonio Texas. Cold beer and great burgers! I always get the jalapeno cheeseburger. You can't go wrong!

  As far as the "Bar" that was mentioned in the name of this restaurant goes, it is definitely figurative as the liquor license for this place was not renewed long ago. Steaks too for that matter. Actually it seems like a number of things have not occurred since long ago. This little out of the way country place could be one of those holes in the wall that serve the juiciest hamburger, the biggest chicken fried steak, the crispiest homemade fries, etc.
  
  However, those superlatives were left in the dust somewhere along with tables that have not been wiped off in the last decade, floors that have not been mopped in a fortnight, or food items that were freshly prepared from scratch.
  
  We arrived almost at closing time (2:00 pm) and ordered burgers done medium. If medium means absolutely no pink whatsoever and burger patty edges that are charred, then I guess we got medium as the owner stated after we were served and questioned the doneness. Medium it wasn't. We were hungry and did not send the overdone burgers back. The owner was nice enough, but we figured that the answer to our rhetorical question would be that "the customer is always what"???! My wife hates stick fries, you know, reminiscent of the potato sticks that can be had from a can. I loved those things as a kid. Well the fries were not exactly that (with argument from my wife) but were on par with that of Mickey Ds. Order a soda and you will get it yourself from the cooler built into the wall near the front counter and grab a styro to get your cup of ice from an ice chest on a stand in the same vicinity.
  
  Did I mention that both ac wall units read 70 as we listened to the hum of two nearby industrial sized fans and began to feel like we going to have a day at the beach. I think those must be wishful temp settings as the ambient temp of the room probably rivaled that of the surface of the griddle our hamburger had been cooked on! Without the breeze from those fans, the place would have been unbearable.
  
  I really wanted to like the place and hoped that we had found another Alamo Springs General Store and Cafe type little gem. However, I was stumped by the absence of personality, the lacking food preparation finesse and service, and the "clean me" environment that holds this place back from being a country favorite. This place really needs some new life so for now don't call them, call 911!
